Meet Camilla, a Parenting Coach with over 20 years of experience, a mum of four (ranging from 17-24 years) and a background in teaching. We’ve teamed up with Camilla, to ask her what all parents want to know. But first, we thought you would like to know a little more about her and how she started her own business to help other parents.
Hi Camilla, can you give us a quick introduction about yourself…
I’m Camilla, the Founder of My Parenting Solutions and a mum of four grown-up kids. I believe that being a parent the hardest job in the world (for which we have no training).
I’m totally passionate about helping parents transform their family life.
I offer video courses, 1:1 consultations and group coaching sessions. All in a supportive and totally non-judgemental environment. I create a space where parents can be honest and open about their struggles and get inspiration to make changes.
Can you tell us more about your background…
Pre-children I ran an independent training and development consultancy working within the corporate environment. I was teaching individuals and teams on how to communicate more effectively and work collaboratively.
When was your light bulb moment and how did My Parenting Solutions launch?
Having attended a parenting class myself to get help and support for dealing with my unruly toddler, I suddenly had a lightbulb moment. I realised I wanted to pivot and re-train to be a parent coach and help other parents transform their lives in the way I had. That was over 20 years ago!
Where is the best place you’ve travelled to…
Hands down Cape Town. I absolutely loved it and have been back many times. The people are so friendly and the food is divine. There’s so much to do and see and I like it because it isn’t just a tourist destination.
What’s your favourite thing to do for yourself…
Meet a girlfriend for a coffee or lunch. My girlfriends are so important to me – we support each other when we feel down and celebrate together too.
What the best advice someone has ever given you…
Not everyone is going to like you and that’s ok.
What is your biggest pet hate…
Boys who leave the loo seat up and pee on the floor!
What is your biggest achievement to date…
My four kids have helped to shape the way I teach other parents and give me SO much joy. They were all raised with the tools and principles I teach and have turned out to be compassionate, confident and go-getting young people. They still love to have family time which we adore!
